The Department of Veterans Affairs has two excellent opportunities for post-residency training in QI.
1. VA Quality Scholars - http://vaqs.org/ Two year fellowship into academic and scholarly QI. Eight sites in the US that are connected to academic programs: Dartrmouth, CWRU, Vanderbilt, UCSF, UCLA, Univ of Alabama-Birmingham, Univ of Iowa, Emory. Many sites offer scholarlship for graduate school.
2. Chief Residency Program in Quality and Safety - http://www.va.gov/oaa/CRQS.asp Close to 55 sites in the US. One year chief position. You do not need to be a resident in the program, but you do need to be in that specialty. At Dartmouth, our Chief of Q&S for 2013-14 is Miranda Tan, who was a board member of CIR when she was a resident. We still have openings for our CRQS for 2014-15 in medicine.
